Fostering a GSP:

If you're unable to adopt a rescued GSP, but would still like to help dogs in need, you may be able to provide valuable assistance through our fostering program.

When we take a GSP into the rescue program, many times they need assessment, socialization, and love before they are ready for permanent placement into a new home.

Foster care may range from just a few days to a few months; sometimes longer, depending on the individual dog and situation.  The average time a rescued GSP remains in a foster home is about 30 days.

During the time that the dog is in foster care, services such as transporting the dog to the vet, meeting and visiting with other volunteers or potential adopters, basic assessments of temperament and behavior, etc. may be required.  Housetraining may be needed, as well, and personalized work such as basic obedience is very useful during this time.

Temporarily fostering a GSP through GSP Rescue of Idaho is the ideal way to "give back" to the breed and provide valuable assistance without a permanent obligation or commitment.

Fostering is also an ideal way to see a variety of different GSP's through Rescue, in case you'd like to evaluate several before making a final decision to rescue one for yourself!

If you think you'd like to be a foster home for a rescued GSP, please Email us for more information and an application.
